The Scottish Collaborative Optometry-Ophthalmology Network e-research (SCONe) A new collaborative venture building a Scotland-wide retinal image resource for innovation in eye research, healthcare and education. About SCONe For optometrists This is an opportunity to join the most ambitious eye research collaboration ever planned, sharing the vision for seamless high-quality eye care across primary and secondary services. SCONe is recruiting optometrists and ophthalmologists across Scotland to join the network to spearhead innovation in eye care. Information for Patients For patients SCONe offers the best prospect for understanding why some people with early age-related macular degeneration progress to more advanced disease and how a simple photograph of the retina might be analysed to predict progression. It is to the patients our work is dedicated. SCONe Stories Malcolm's Story For the NHS For the NHS, academics and funders this project’s foresight and scope is to enable translation of high quality clinical research to world-class care, improving the eyes and lives for the people of Scotland and beyond. The data accumulated through SCONe will also be a large resource for teaching and education. How to get involved SCONe aims to build a nationwide retinal image research resource and we are keen to hear from eye care professionals and researchers interested in getting involved with the project.
