The University will offer one Edinburgh Doctoral College Scholarship to a student starting their PhD research at the Deanery of Clinical Sciences in the 2024-2025 academic session. This scholarship covers the University tuition fee as well as a stipend equal to the UKRI minimum rate for the relevant academic year of study. Subject to satisfactory progress, the scholarship is offered for 3 years (or pro-rata for part-time). The awards are open to UK and overseas students applying to start their first year of study for an on-campus research degree in 2024/2025. The Scholarship Deadline is Monday 11th March 2024. Please note that if a student is successful in obtaining a China Scholarship Council award the expectation is that the receiving institution (i.e. University of Edinburgh) will pay the tuition fees (waiver through the PhD Tuition Fee Contribution Scheme) and research costs (APCs). Any Chinese students considering applying for a CSC award should be encouraged to check with their potential supervisor and research centre whether or not funds will be available within the School/Deanery/Institute to cover the costs of supervising the student without receiving any tuition fees and funding any APCs as these are not available at either College or University level. If these funds are not available the student should be dissuaded from pursuing the application with the China Scholarship Council. Staff Scholarship Scheme This funds tuition fees (full or partial) for substantive CMVM members of staff undertaking a variety of courses, academic and vocational, within or outwith (where the course is not available within) the University of Edinburgh. Priority is given to applicants whose contract of employment extends beyond the end date of the proposed course and where a benefit to both the staff member and the college as a result of undertaking this course can be foreseen. Please note Staff Scholarship funding is NOT available for clinically qualified training fellows except in exceptional cases as per the information in the link above. Martin Lee Doctoral Scholarships in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Martin Lee Doctoral Scholarships provide stipend and research funds for a four-year PhD at the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR). Martin Lee Doctoral Scholarships will be awarded competitively. Scholarships include a stipend and tuition fees as well as funding for research, training and travel. The programme is open to those who are eligible for UK Home Fees and those ordinarily resident in Hong Kong. Students will receive foundation training and complete two research rotation projects before selecting their 3-year PhD research project. Projects will span the breath of research areas at IRR, ranging from fundamental science to clinical and industrial translation projects. Martin Lee Doctoral Scholars will take part in key postgraduate teaching events at the institute, while a series of specific training and networking opportunities will foster a programme-specific cohort for Martin Lee Doctoral Scholars.
