This is an exciting opportunity for a Radiographer looking to be actively involved in MRI research imaging projects. Job Vacancy – MRI Research Radiographer (Ref: 042209) Details: MRI scanning of research subjects and support of research scanning projects will be central to this role; however there will be significant non-scanning responsibilities. The post holder will act as part of the core team within the imaging research facility; taking on responsibilities with other centre activities (NHS support work, private patient scanning, design and delivery of training courses e.g. online MSc modules and other activities). Some flexibility is required as staff will work between research sites at the University of Edinburgh. Also, due to the nature of research projects there may be a need to occasionally work flexible patterns to support "out of hours" scanning. The successful candidate will be working within the Edinburgh Imaging Facilities, with the role primarily being neuro-focused, e.g. in stroke, neurovascular disorders, functional MRI. However, other areas of research scanning could be included depending on research projects occuring, including cardiology, oncology, orthopaedic and hepatology . The post holder will be part of the research team on specific studies so will have input to the practical aspects of study set up and ongoing management of the work. Image trial data management and image analysis are also potential areas of study support work for this role. Location: Edinburgh Imaging exists as three facilities across the city; at the Western General Hospital (WGH), the Royal Infirmary (RIE) and the QMRI. Facilities have been strategically placed to collate research and clinical services; University scanners operate in NHS hospitals and also NHS services are delivered from University buildings. This facilitates patient scanning alongside research trial recruitment. This role could potentially work across all 3 Edinburgh Imaging facilities, but will be focused on the WGH and RIE facilities initially. The role may also involve some research work at the Chancellor's Buildings, next to the RIE. Applications: Salary scale University of Edinburgh Grade 7 (£32,548 - £38,853) This Full Time post is fixed term for 3 years in the first instance with the expectation that it will continue long term.
