Dr Salvatore Rudilosso is a neurologist & postdoctoral research fellow at the Comprehensive Stroke Center, Hospital Clínic of Barcelona.

He obtained his Medical degree at the University of Padua (Italy) in 2009, & completed his formal training in Neurology at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (Spain) in 2004.

Dr Rudilosso soon developed his interest in stroke & cerebrovascular diseases, especially in the field of cerebral small vessel diseases. For these reasons he enrolled onto a PhD program at the University of Barcelona with a project entitled "Study of the hemodynamic characteristics of lacunar infarcts with cerebral perfusion neuroimaging techniques", that he completed in December 2019.

Currently, Dr Rudilosso is continuing his research in acute stroke & small vessel diseases at the Comprehensive Stroke Center of the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, with a grant from the Carlos III Institute.

Dr Rudilosso is excited to broaden his knowledge in advanced neuroimaging techniques & comes to Edinburgh, having received the Mobility Programme (M-AES) of the Carlos III Health Institute Award, to join the Edinburgh Small Vessel Disease Research Group from October 2020 to April 2021.

Dr Rudilosso has published several articles addressing the perfusion characteristics in recent small subcortical infarcts & in white matter hyperintensities in patients with large vessel occlusions in journals such as the American Journal of Neuroradiology (2015, 2019) & the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism (2019).

He also published the results of other studies focused on clinical large vessel stroke & mechanical thrombectomy in Stroke (2019, 2020), & in the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery (2020).
