SBRI Healthcare Development Award

Aidence, a Dutch company that is developing medical imaging diagnostic software based on deep learning, has been awarded a Development Award from SBRI Healthcare.  SBRI Healthcare’s main aim in 2018 is to support potential cancer screening solutions.

Amsterdam-based Aidence was founded in 2015 with the goal of improving medical diagnostics by applying Deep Learning. It's first product is Veye Chest, a solution for automated pulmonary nodule management on chest computed tomography (CT) scans .

Aidence’s Veye Chest technology demonstrates the ability to transform screening and facilitate both earlier and faster diagnosis of cancer.  They believe that Veye Chest supports the radiologist, to improve quality and efficiency of reporting. Their vision is that their technology  will reduce the burden on radiologists and help them save valuable time.

We are very proud to have been selected for the SBRI. It gives Aidence the opportunity to show the value of its A.I. solution in improving cancer care. Enabling cost-effective lung cancer screening is a key goal for Aidence, and this grant brings this goal an important step closer.

Collaborating with NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Imaging

NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Imaging, part of the University of Edinburgh,  are collaborating with Aidence in order to validate quantification features like automated volume measurement.

Aidence feels that working alongside NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Imaging,  fits with their approach  to secure reliable, independent proof of their product by  scientific research. This study started in Edinburgh in February and the preliminary results are expected in June this year.

We are looking forward to collaborating with Aidence on this important advance in making lung cancer screening more cost effective. I believe that  Artificial Intelligence will have a significant and positive impact on how radiology services will evolve and we look forward in Edinburgh to being at the forefront of this development
