Grade UE09 £61,198-£75,498

Deanery of Clinical Sciences 

Full-time: 35 hours per week 

Fixed-term: 5 years (September 2030)

The Opportunity:

Provide specialist scientific support for clinical and research PET services at the Edinburgh Imaging Facility based in QMRI undertaking the statutory duties of a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in accordance with the requirements of the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (2017).  The post will support Scotland’s only Total Body PET and PETMRI scanners.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and for up to five years (to 30 September 2030).

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Honours degree in physical science and MSc in Medical Physics.
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (Medical Physicist), MPE accreditation or route to become MPE certified 
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge across the full range of working procedures and practices in the field of PET 
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge and practical experience of the principles of the operation of PET scanners and associated equipment
  • Highly developed IT skills including programming and system modification skills in nuclear medicine computer systems and image processing packages
