British Cardiovascular Imaging meeting

Last week,  the British Cardiovascular Imaging  #BCVI18 meeting took place in Edinburgh. 

It was the first time that the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging/British Society of Cardiovascular CT (BSCI/BSCCT), British Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (BSCMR) & British Nuclear Cardiac Society (BNCS) had joined together for a combined annual meeting.  

The meeting was a sell-out and the programme of excellent speakers proved to make the event a very successful few days.

BSCI/BSCCT Young Investigator Award was won by Rachael Forsythe

Winner of the Young Investigator Award was Dr Rachael Forsythe,  with her research on 'Predicting Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Growth using 18F-Sodium Fluoride PET-CT'. Well done Rachael! 

In second place was Timothy Cartlidge, with his research on 'Gender Disparities in Aortic Stenosis: An Optimised Assessment with Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography'.

Dr Alex Vesey, came in third place with their research on '18F-Fluoride and 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography After Transient Ischemic Attack or Minor Ischemic Stroke'.

Fourth place went to Jessica Carter, (University of Edinburgh medical student), who was awarded a Highly commended for her work on the 'Association between computed tomography features of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and coronary artery disease'  A sub-study of the SCOT-HEART trial.

This was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with Edinburgh  - congratulations to all!
