A post-doctoral level position is available within the University of Edinburgh, for a computer scientist in Modern Machine Learning Approaches for Medical Image Analysis, linked to the recently announced HDR-UK Scottish Substantive Site. Job reference: 046674 Post: Research Fellow (HDR UK) Salary: University of Edinburgh Grade 7 (£33,199 - £39,609) Department: Edinburgh Imaging / Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences Closing date: 21st February 2019 Applicants can apply here. Job Purpose The successful candidate will join an internationally recognised multidisciplinary team including clinical medical imaging experts, especially of the brain (Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, Edinburgh), and in informatics, machine/deep learning and computer vision (School of Informatics, Edinburgh; VAMPIRE; CVIP, Computing Dundee). The post, funded through HDR UK, aims to develop innovative deep learning / artificial intelligence approaches for medical brain and brain-related image analysis, and to apply them to large, cross-linked data repositories. We aim to develop robust medical image analysis systems that can successfully process multi-modality heterogeneous medical imaging – i.e. Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The post-holder will work on methods to advance state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, including deep learning networks, for consistent, accurate biomarker identification, diagnosis, risk stratification and quantification of common brain diseases at scale, ultimately for use in routine health care.
