Job Purpose The aim of this project is to use existing scans to develop a validated and robust motion correction tool for MRI in the female pelvis that can be applied in a clinical setting. This project is one of 9 four-year PhD Studentships funded by Medical Research Scotland to be delivered jointly by the named University and Company. The Studentship will provide the first-class academic and commercial training needed to equip the successful candidate for a science career in an increasingly competitive market. "Motion correction of MR images of the pelvis" to be delivered by the University of Edinburgh, being supervised by: Dr Lucy Kershaw and Dr Scott Semple and Canon Medical Research Europe Ltd, with supervisor Dr Keith Goatman. Canon Medical Research Europe Ltd (Canon Medical), based in Edinburgh, designs and develops leading edge software for medical image visualization and analysis used in CT, MRI and other medical scanners used in hospitals worldwide. Canon Medical are an R&D centre of excellence with strong academic and research links. While based in the Canon Medical office the student will be an active member of the Image Analysis team, working with a team of experts who develop software to commercial quality. They will also be encouraged to network and collaborate with team members and other students on placement within Canon Medical.
