Follow-up scanning now completed for the INVESTIGATE@SVDs study. One year after scanning the final study volunteer, the Edinburgh team has completed all one-year follow-up visits. This marks the conclusion of data collection for the study. Congratulations to all those involved in the Investigate@SVDs study! What is the INVESTIGATE@SVDs study? Investigate@SVDs is the first multi-centre study to combine complex imaging protocols which allow us to assess: Blood brain barrier (BBB) function & dysfunction, in small vessel diseases (SVDs) & Cerebrovascular reactivity & pulsatility in small vessel diseases (SVDs) This provided a holistic brain vascular health assessment & acquired data will help us understand the complex relationship between blood-pressure & microvascular defects associated with small vessel diseases (SVDs). We followed-up patients one year after study inclusion & collected information about patient recovery, health & cognition. Ongoing analyses will provide crucial information on how the small vessels in the brain work & how their dysfunction can lead to disease, helping us to uncover potential treatments for small vessel diseases (SVDs), stroke & dementia. This study is part of the larger SVDs@Target project, which seeks to identify the key mechanisms behind small vessel diseases (SVDs) in stroke & dementia. This larger SVDs@Target project is a collaborative effort between hospitals in: Edinburgh Oxford Munich Maastricht Utrecht Read about when we completed recruiting for the study, here.
