Are you able to help us to set up our new magnetic resonance scanner for research? Our Neuroimaging Team, are wishing to recruit healthy volunteers to take part in a new Quality Assurance (QA) procedure. We currently have a MRI research scanner (1.5T) at the Western General Hospital ( located near the DCN X-ray Dept) and will have an additional research scanner (3T) for the new Brain Research Imaging Centre at the Royal Infirmary, Little France, Edinburgh. The Centre will be adjacent to the new DCN and Sick Kids building which is being constructed at present, with a view to being complete in 2017. What is required: Two MRI brain scans, one at our current research scanner at the WGH and one at the new scanner (once installed) at the RiE. Image What will volunteers have to do: Volunteers would be asked to attend the Western General Hospital to have a MRI scan done on the 1.5T scanner, and then visit the Royal Infirmary (after approx one year) to have a second MRI scan taken on the 3T scanner. The time between the 2 scans, depends on how long the construction of the new building and the installation of the new scanner will take. For those volunteers who agree to take part, we will add your scans to our collection of Brain Images of Normal Subjects which is a valuable resource for research and clinical diagnosis.
