Prof Farrall's inaugural lecture is scheduled for 1730h, 26 June 2017: "Imaging - much more than a pretty picture" What is imaging? Images surround us. They permeate our physical & virtual spaces. They also populate somewhat less conspicuous, but important territories. Images underpin a large variety of research - from clinical trials, to laboratory cellular methods, from equipment design & development, to innovations in image visualization, processing & analysis. Imaging is consequently highly interdisciplinary, requiring the expertise of radiologists, physicists, engineers, computer scientists, & technologists, interfacing with other systems-based medical, clinical & science specialists. Integrating these different disciplines, to maximize research outputs and avoid “siloesque” working, is not always straightforward. Imaging & education Professor Andrew Farrall will explore the challenges & benefits of educating & training a diverse & interdisciplinary population of researchers, who are using imaging to push forward the frontiers of their disciplines. Image Lecture - open to the public Monday 26 June 2017 17.30 - 18.30hrs Lecture Theatre A, Chancellor's Building, 49 Little France Crescent, Edinburgh, EH16 4SB Book free ticket with Eventbrite.
