Edinburgh Imaging students, staff and faculty attended and presented at the 7th International Symposium on GABA and Advanced MRS. Image Overview The 7th International Symposium on GABA and advanced MRS, held in Bergen Norway, was an opportunity to present advanced Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) studies, to a broad audience with a common interest in developing methodology and overcoming current limitations. All levels of MRS researchers, from undergraduate to senior faculty, were invited to attend. During the event, attendees participated in talks from senior faculty, joined brainstorming sessions, were involved with collaborative projects, presented abstracts (or ongoing studies), and even reserved 1-on-1 sessions with experts to discuss ongoing projects. All accepted abstracts were presented orally, so it was a great opportunity for junior scientists to present and network within the MRS community. Participants Edinburgh Imaging students, staff and faculty attended the symposium: Charlotte Jardine Melissa Gibbs Adam Waldman Michael Langsen, and Michael J Thrippleton Presentations Melissa, an Integrative Neuroscience MSc student, gave an oral presentation: "Impact of the ketogenic diet on neurometabolism in bipolar disorder using 1H-MRS", reporting the results of a collaboration between Edinburgh Imaging, Professor Harry Campbell and Professor Daniel Smith. Michael Langsen, who is currently a PhD student within the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences (CCBS), presented his research: "Technical validation and clinical translation of a non-invasive 2-hydroxyglutarate imaging biomarker for preoperative lower grade glioma."
