Image Dr Michael Stringer The Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) took place from 21st – 25th September 2020, this year. Throughout the lead up to this week, CMVM postdoc societies were encouraging UoE members to nominate any postdocs who they thought were outstanding & deserved to be celebrated. The 3 categories of postdoc awards were: Public Engagement, Research Supervision & Citizenship. The winners were announced on Friday 25th September 2020, & out of 15 other contenders, Dr Michael Stringer won the BioQuarter Research Supervision award. We asked Dr Stringer his thoughts on being nominated & winning the award. "I am very grateful to the students who nominated me. I have been incredibly lucky to work with remarkably able students, & to be able to rely on the guidance of Professor Joanna Wardlaw & Dr Michael Thrippleton - this is as much recognition of their efforts as anything" If you missed the Postdoc Appreciation Week, below are a few video highlights – the full event recording will be made available soon: Charles Ffrench Constant & Malcolm Macleod speeches (Announcements) Isaac Shaw Sketch (Comedy) Public Engagement Awards Citizenship Awards Research Supervision Awards Sara Shinton about the Concordat Relevant links Dr Michael Stringer Professor Joanna Wardlaw Dr Michael Thrippleton Edinburgh BioQuarter Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences Medical physics Brain & nervous system Small vessel disease (SVD) 02 Apr 20.
