Edinburgh Imaging is delighted to see a publication co-written by Prof Joanna Wardlaw & Dr Francesca Chappell has been ranked 53rd in the top most cited diagnostic study meta-analyses in the field of radiology.

A recent bibliometric analysis on the most cited meta-analyses of diagnostic studies in the whole field of radiology, ranked Professor Joanna Wardlaw & Dr Francesca Chappell’s 2009 paper as 53rd.

 

Dr Francesca Chappell, Senior Medical Statistician, explains the publication aims & outcomes:

“We were assessing ultrasound, CT, & MRI in the diagnosis of carotid stenosis – a major risk factor for recurrent stroke in people who have had a recent transient ischaemic attack or minor stroke.

Timing is of the essence in treating carotid stenosis, but the availability of ultrasound, CT, & MRI varies hugely.

Our paper helps clinicians decide which imaging to use.”
