Dr Antoine Vallatos is a Research Associate in preclinical & clinical imaging research at the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences, University of Edinburgh.

Dr Vallatos, together with an interdisciplinary team involving NHS Lothian Medical Physics & the School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh, developped University capabilities for manufacturing scarce & essential bespoke hardware for health care amidst the pandemic.

The Principal’s Medal is awarded to University of Edinburgh colleagues & students who have made outstanding contributions to the University of Edinburgh & the wider community, & so we are delighted to see that Dr Antoine Vallatos & the team’s efforts have been recognized for their hard work during the pandemic, with Dr Vallatos being awarded the Principal’s Medal.

We asked Dr Antoine Vallatos his thoughts regarding the award.

The spontaneous solidarity efforts that emerged in the University during this difficult period have been really inspirational!

I’m just happy I was able to contribute. I would like to share this award with all the amazing people that joined this effort & in particular the teams from Engineering, Ucreate Maker Space, NHS & UoE medical physics/imaging & my colleagues at CCBS & Edinburgh Imaging."
